PIKE CITY bluegrass



Pike City is a group of young people who love to pick a variety of music from bluegrass to new grass, to gospel. Three talented musicians, who love to sing and play their instruments, formed Pike City Bluegrass band three years ago. Zeb Hick 19 on banjo , Karissa Hayden 19 on bass, and Tony Hicks 17 on guitar, bring their own unique sound and playing style to this ensemble.

Pike City’s accomplishments include 1st place at the Fries Fiddlers Convention, 4th place at the Galax Fiddlers Convention. They’ve opened for “The Travelers” at the Blue Ridge Film Festival in the Historic Buchanan Theatre and opened for Ralph Stanley 2 at the Historic Rex Theatre in Galax VA.

March 2013, the band won a singing competition for a 30 hr recording contract from “The Voices of the New River”. “I’m Ready” is their first gospel CD.

Pike City has been featured live on WSLS 10 (NBC) Daytime Blue Ridge. The musicians of Pike City interviewed and performed live on 98.1 WBRF and on 740 WPAQ’s Merry Go Round. They have performed at Heartwood- Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Gateway as part of their youth series and participated in numerous Crooked Road Venues. The group interviewed and performed live on Tim White’s Bluegrass Show. A radio program is syndicated and airs on over 40 different stations. Pike City has also performed on the Pickin Porch Pike City has many future events scheduled for the upcoming 2014 season. These events include , Crooked Road Venues, HoustonFest, Wayside Bluegrass Festival and many more.
